LSD (lysergic acid diethylamide), often known as acid, is a hallucinogenic substance. Intensified thoughts, emotions, and sensory experiences are common side effects. LSD causes mostly visual and aural hallucinations at sufficiently high doses. Because LSD attaches to dopamine receptors as well as serotonin receptors, its effects are more intense and fast-paced than psychedelics like psilocybin, which does not connect to dopamine receptors. The effects usually start within half an hour and might continue up to 20 hours. LSD can also cause spiritual experiences and ego disillusionment, but less commonly than other drugs like psilocybin.LSD is thought to be non-addictive and has a minimal risk of misuse.
